WhatsApp built its reputation on end-to-end encryption and user privacy. As Meta introduced new business features like click-to-WhatsApp ads, marketing messaging, and AI-powered chat, the platform needed to disclose data-sharing practices to users without eroding the trust that defined the product.
To address this, I designed a scalable content framework for privacy disclosure that worked across multiple WhatsApp surfaces, balanced legal compliance with plain-language clarity, and could be reused by future product teams as new scenarios emerged.
Each new business feature created a unique data-sharing scenario requiring a disclosure. Writing one-off copy per scenario would result in inconsistent language, legal exposure, and erosion of user trust — the exact thing WhatsApp's brand was built to protect.

The strategic problem wasn't writing one disclosure, it was writing a system that could write any disclosure. Every future business feature would need one. A scalable framework would protect users, reduce legal review cycles, and free product teams from reinventing the wheel each launch.

I worked through the framework in three stages, partnering with legal, policy, UXR, product design, and engineering at each step.
